This page is dedicated to YOU - with information so that your stay in Ocean City, NJ or vicinity will be enjoyable. Be it spring, summer, winter or fall...Ocean City is the best of all. There is always something for you to do or see.
Ocean City is known as the "Family Resort" as it caters to all members of your family. There are 8 miles of nice, clean, guarded beaches along the whole coast. Beach tags are required from June through Labor Day. Seasonal tags cost $18.00, weekly tags cost $8.00 and daily tags cost $4.00 for Monday through Friday. Weekend tags, Saturday or Sunday, are $5.00. The boardwalk runs for 2.5 miles from the North end of the town to 23rd Street. During the summer you can ride a bicycle or surrey on the boardwalk between the hours of 5:00 - 12:00 AM. New Jersey law requires helmets to be worn by children under the age of 14 years. This law does NOT apply to riding on the boardwalk, however. Stores, eateries and amusements are dotted along this walk. Asbury Avenue, in the center of town, boasts boutique shops along with a small department store. Probably the most unique thing about Ocean City is that it is a "dry" town....you cannot buy or be served any alcohol on this barrier island. Atlantic City is 30 minutes away driving north while Cape May can be reached in about the same time going south. The weather temperature in the summer ranges from around 70 to 90 degrees.Beach Information
Activities in Ocean City
Being on the beach either sunbathing or swimming is the number one fun thing to do. Biking and surrey riding on the boardwalk until 12:00 (noon) are also right up there. There are playgrounds scattered all over this island, a public golf course, an excellent library and community center. There are two great locations with basketball and tennis courts for the "never grow old" crowd. Miniature golf courses can be found on the boardwalk along with a waterslide, amusements of all kinds, movie theaters, shopping and lots of food. If you want, there is a great zoo just 20 minutes away and it's free...and then there are the casinos in Atlantic City. For your information, there are two hospitals very close by - Shore Memorial Hospital in Somers Point and Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital in Cape May Court House.
Shopping in Ocean City and Vicinity
All along Asbury Avenue in the center of town, there are great shops as well as those on the boardwalk. There is an Acme, Super Fresh and a Thriftway supermarket on the island along with numerous Wawas. If you want a mall, we have two of them nearby...the Shore Mall in Pleasantville and the Hamilton Mall in Mays Landing. Boscov's, Macys, Target, Kohl's, Best Buy, Penney's, Staples and more are there. Stone Harbor, Avalon and Cape May also have nice shopping areas.
